Relating Entities to Other Entities
When a related entity must be linked to a main entity, the application displays a related entity message above the main entity’s role assignments.
In the following example, the Texas Municipal Association is assigned the role of Guarantor for a loan. Because the association is not an individual who can sign documents, an individual entity must be related to it to serve as the Guarantor Authorized Signer.
To create this particular entity relationship, you need to do the following:
- Assign at least one individual entity the role of Guarantor Authorized Signer. Entities with that role appear as available authorized signers for the Texas Municipal Association.
- Select the appropriate available authorized signers from the Role Assignment information for the Texas Municipal Association.
Note that when you have assigned an individual entity a signer role but have not yet related that entity to a main entity, the application includes a related entity message in the individual entity’s Role Assignment information.
In the following example, Daniel Turner has been assigned the role of Guarantor Authorized Signer, but he has not yet been related to a main entity. The application displays a message and a suggestion to link this entity with a Guarantor.
Signing Agent
In lending transactions, a Signing Agent is an entity with no direct connection to the loan and is designated to sign on behalf of a main or related entity. Some entities may appoint signing agents for the sake of convenience.
For example, the CEO of a corporation may have the role of Borrower Authorized Signer for a loan, but she may designate a signing agent, like her attorney, to sign on her behalf.
A signing agent can be designated for applicable main and related entities in their Role Assignment information. You can designate a signing agent by selecting a listed entity.
